DCP Helping Parent “Top Ten”

  1. Please plan to come 10 minutes early and stay 10 minutes late. Your teachers really rely on having an extra set of hands in the classroom during these times just before and after class!
  3. Ask questions! The teachers are happy to help you with any questions you may have whether it’s about where to find a clean towel to wipe up a fabulous mess or what skills the children are learning by doing a specific activity.
  4. Parent helpers may not escort any children (other than their own) to the bathroom. This duty is reserved for teachers and staff for safety reasons.
  5. Model for your child! Clean up during clean up time, sing (even if you can’t carry a tune in a paper bag), wash your hands, try new things, etc.
  6. Engage with your child and the other students during class. This is such a great opportunity for you to spend special time with your child and get to know the whole class better!
  7. When setting up snack, be sure to set a place for yourself and the teachers. We all enjoy snack together! This is a valuable time to make connections and talk about our day!
  8. Dress for the weather! We try to get outside as often as possible, even if it is only for a few minutes on a chilly day, so come prepared!
  9. Dress for a mess! Both you and your child!
  10. Please make arrangements for siblings during your parent helper day. This is a special day for your child and DCP is not licensed to have children who are not enrolled in our building during class. This is a great opportunity to reach out to fellow DCP parents for playdates or child care swapping while you help out in class!
