Where did you grow up?: As a young child I lived in Minnesota. I had beautiful trees to climb, rocks piles to play on and lakes to explore.
How long have you been working with children/teaching?: I started teaching in Early childhood Education almost twenty years ago. I took time out to be home with my own young children and have been back now 8 years.
What led you to a career in education?: A family friend had a preschool and asked me to help. From the moment I steeped into a classroom I knew it was where I wanted to be!
What is your favorite thing about working at DCP?: I love working closely with families. I really believe you are your child’s first teacher. I feel honored to be a part of that relationship.
What is your favorite thing to do in the classroom?: Playing ukulele with children and writing songs with them and about them!
What are your hobbies or passions outside of DCP?: Playing ukulele, obviously. I also love art journaling, reading and playing with my dogs!
Where can we find you in Denver (favorite spots/hangouts/places to visit): I can be found in Denver parks or museums.
Tell us about your family: I have two teenage children, one boy and one girl. I also have two Chihuahua’s, family for sure.
What did you want to be when you grew up?: I was only thinking about finding the next mud puddle to play in!
What do you remember most about being a young child?: passing days in the tops of climbing trees.
What was your favorite thing to do as a child?: imaginary play outside
